The Making Of... The Recordings
The songs Never Meant To Hurt You, Faith, Hope and Love, As Good As It Gets and Lovesick have been recorded at Paul Gilbert’s studio in Las Vegas.
Tony: “Paul offered me the chance to record a demo at his studio and I said great! He said: “I want to play, shall I play drums for you”? and I said: “Well I play drums, I always play drums” and he said: “I play drums”. And I thought, I don’t know and said: “Can you, are you any good?” He said: “Yeah, I’m pretty good”. So, we put a click track down and I played guitar with a click track.
Then he did drums on my guitar tracks and he left me in the studio and told me: “Just see what you want”. And I did all the rest. He came back when I was done and mixed it for me. And we ended up keeping 3 songs. I re-recorded As Good As It Gets because I think I got a better recording of it at the studio with Greg, but Paul played great drums on those songs. It was very nice of him to allow me to use his studio and I asked him if it was ok if I used the song As Good As It Gets to give him the credits as playing drums so I did.”
“I think we recorded everything in 6 days. Greg did his drum tracks the first day. And we kept a lot of Mike’s bass tracks from the first day. The second day we finished his bass and then I started and I think I have recorded 5 or 6 days myself. The vocals and guitar parts. And then Joe Hardy took it home, mixed it and send me the mixes till I said: “Yes, it’s great”.
